"YOU CAN'T BE WHAT YOU CAN'T SEE"

- Marian Wright Edelman

BIG, BLACK, BUTCH, UGLY, DARK, FAT, MASCULINE -

These are just a few of the "insults" frequently

thrown at me. They were designed to destroy,

diminish and dehumanize.

They crippled my self esteem and made me question my value.

They made me question my identity.

We have the power to change perceptions through representation. Those who exist in marginalized bodies are reclaiming autonomy over how we are portrayed in the public sphere. We are taking ownership of our narratives - on our own terms. We are not filling a quota, we are representative of the people - a celebration of difference.

Much of my work revolves around living in truth, in every area of my life, so It is integral to my inclusion work that I represent myself authentically.  Here are a few projects I have been fortunate to be involved in that allow me to explore identity, authenticity and representation. If you have a project that you think could use some black girl magic, get in touch.

Existence is resistance!
